The One Campus project is one of several priorities for the district this year, as outlined in the 2024-25 Strategic Priorities that the Board approved last week. The One Campus project is a three-year process with significant design and planning scheduled over the next 10 months, followed by two years of construction and alterations. Along with the strategic priorities, the Board also approved the formation and membership of a Building Committee and Turf Field Subcommittee to help shepard the work with the architects. These committees are made up of students, parents/guardians, community members, Board members, architects, staff, administrators, and public officials. The Building Committee advises and supports the Board on the design and construction of the school, oversees the project budget and schedule, and coordinates with the Town as needed. The Artificial Turf Field Subcommittee provides recommendations to the Building Committee on decisions pertaining to the turf field, such as materials, design, and safety.
This week marks the 23rd observation of 9/11. Often, during the busy beginning of school stretch this annual somber reflection can be lost in the shuffle of activities and schedules. But it is incumbent upon all of us to help young people understand this turning point in our recent history and never forget the significance of so many lives lost and a nation devastated. It was in those bleak moments, and their aftermath, that our national character and resolve were tested beyond the imaginable. Those tests were passed, our nation's people continue to show strength and resilience, and we must always keep 9/11 in our collective memory.
